Lawn Care

You have finally bought a property with luscious green lawn. It is definitely a sight to behold, but how do you keep it looking great? To achieve and maintain a green and luscious lawn, you must first learn about the basics of lawn care. The basic tips mentioned in this article will help beginners like you to get started. Buying expensive and sophisticated equipment is not always necessary to start maintaining your lawn.
Mowing

Lawns must be mowed regularly. You must remember to mow your lawn at least once a week and during spring, you can mow it twice in a week. Your lawn must be kept at about 3" in height. If you trim it too short, it will stress out the grass, leading to wasted energy in replacing the lost leaf. This will also prevent the growth of the root and will deplete their food. Additionally, you must avoid mowing your lawn when wet. The mower blades will not be able to cleanly cut the wet grass and will only damage your lawn.
In addition, you must also make sure that your mower blades are properly maintained and kept sharp. Dull blades won't be able to cut the lawn properly, but instead, it tears and rips it apart. The leaves will end up with ragged ends which are not attractive and can also damage the grass. If this happens, your lawn will be susceptible to insect or pest problems, weeds, and drought.Watering

Aside from mowing your lawn and turning on the sprinkler, you must also make sure that you water your plants and bushes thoroughly and evenly. According to recent studies, most lawns need around ¾"-1" of water every week; however, there are other factors, such as soil and weather that will affect the amount of water needed. To water your plants and lawn grass appropriately, you have to following these simple steps:
Spread the water across your lawn evenly and avoid over watering or missing spots in your yard.

You must water your lawn early in the day or during late night since this will allow the root zone to absorb more water.

Understand and determine the kind of weather condition wherein your lawn will need more or less watering.
Fertilizing

Your lawn doesn't only need proper mowing and watering, but it also needs fertilizer so that it can get the nutrients it needs to stay green, healthy, and luscious. You must know which type of fertilizer is best for your garden, when you need to fertilize, and how to fertilize your lawn. There are lawn care service companies that recommend fertilizing your lawn at least four times within a year to help fight drought, weather, and other
